What stays on your device
Where you stopped in each book, your playback speed, and the list of books you are listening to are kept in your browser’s local storage on this device. They are never sent to us. Clearing the site’s data removes them.
What we record
A first-party visit counter on this site’s own address (/e) records the pages you open, the controls you use (play, pause, speed) and a coarse description of your device (operating system and browser), with a random id that lasts only while the page is open. It sets no cookie and writes nothing to your device. The server adds your country, and a daily one-way hash of your address and browser so a visitor is counted once a day; the address itself is not stored.
If you send feedback, we keep your message, the page you sent it from, your coarse device, and your email only if you give one (only to reply).
Who else sees the connection
Audio and cover images load directly from the Internet Archive (archive.org), so your browser connects to it and it sees your address, as with any site you visit; see its terms and privacy policy (opens archive.org). The site runs on Cloudflare, which handles every request. There are no ads, no third-party trackers and no advertising cookies.
